![]() Luxar AccuVet CO2 Surgical Laser |
In the last few months, Animal Heath Center has been busy upgrading our building, outside exercise area for dogs, soon to be resurfaced parking lot and some great new equipment. We are very proud of the fact that Animal Health Center is the first veterinary hospital south of Savannah and north of Gainesville, Florida to have a carbon dioxide surgical laser. All procedures done with the surgical laser result in less swelling and less pain for your pets. This means that recovery time is shortened. Because the laser seals blood vessels and nerve endings, the surgical procedures are almost bloodless and are much less painful. The most dramatic use of the laser is in cat declawing procedures. In fact, while doing the surgery for declawing there is no blood, and the cats are actually walking and playing the same day. For those who have had their cats declawed in the past, you will remember how tender the feet were for days after the surgery. Well, no more sore feet, bleeding, and pain. This laser is unbelievable! We are using it on every surgery we can and WOW does it make a difference. We are continually in awe of the shortened recovery time and lack of blood, pain, and swelling the laser provides. Spread the word. If you or anyone you know has a pet that needs surgery, call and inquire about our new laser surgery. Your pet will thank you for it!
Another piece of new equipment that we are extremely excited about is the Vet Scope. This equipment enables us to use a small video camera to see down into the ear, to do surgical biopsies in the abdomen, and to look into places like the nose and vaginal areas that previously were difficult to examine. The most useful procedure has been for the treatment of ear infections because now we can see deep down into the ear, completely visualizing the eardrum or the absence of the eardrum due to infection. The neatest thing about the Vet Scope is that is enables us to take pictures of what we are seeing so that you can share the medical problem with your family at home. There is also a digitizer which enables us to capture a picture of a pet's skin problem, a tumor, or even an x-ray and then e-mail it to a specialist for immediate consultation.
We extend an invitation to everyone to come by and see these exciting new technological advances to veterinary medicine and the Valdosta area available only at Animal Health Center.
